The company Johnnie Walker recently came out with a short film titled "Ode to Lesvos," detailing the story of some heroes who put gave the little bit they could to helping Syrian refugees, not because they had to or for publicity, but because it was the right thing to do. From poor seniors to simple fishermen, these people did what they could to help. We have exceeded our goal of $3000 this year and raised $3042 for the Syrian refugees! With this amount of money, shelter and sleeping bags can be provided for 25 families or a week's worth of food can be provided for 85 refugee children. Great work everybody! Benedict Cumberbatch recently gave a speech for the refugees from Syria. He is collecting funds for the organization Save the Children (we're doing the same, fancy that) and took five minutes after finishing up for the play Hamlet to speak about it. It was beautiful. Here's the whole speech: |
